What is a drone?

Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's) or Drone; they all pretty much mean the same thing. Drone technology has come a long way in recent years, which has seen systems become more advanced (and therefore safer to operate) and more affordable. Now, having aerial footage of your property, activity or event is a viable option for many businesses, families and individuals.

Aerial footage (or still images) can be used for:

Drone operations can be intrusive, and in many cases require permission from land-owners, neighbours, territorial authorities etc. Doubtless Bay Drone Services will only operate within the boundaries of New Zealand law and regulations. These can include Civil Aviation Authority rules and regulations, Privacy Act considerations, local by-laws and other, sometimes not obvious restrictions. We will go through your project with you and identify which processes need to be followed to complete a lawful project - talk to us; we'll identify issues that apply and help you decide if the task is worth persuing.
